JN Port handles 4.467million TEUs, 63.80 million tonnes in 2014-15
New Delhi (N4C Desk)-Jawaharlal Nehru Port handled 63.80 million tonnes of total cargo during the financial year 2014-15 as against 62.33 million tonnes of cargo handled during the previous year. Of the total, share of containerised cargo was 56.93 million tonnes (89.24%), liquid cargo 6.19 million tonnes (9.70%) and remaining 0.68 million tonnes (1.06%) was miscellaneous cargo in the form of dry bulk and break bulk.
The Port handled 4.467 million TEUs of container traffic registering growth of 7.33% during the financial year 2014-15, which is highest ever container traffic since inception of the Port and 56.13% of the total container throughput of the country’s major ports. Out of the total traffic of 4.467 million TEUs, the share of the JNPCT was 1.294 million TEUs (28.97%), the share of NSICT was 1.160 million TEUs (25.97%) and the remaining 2.012 million TEUs (45.06%) were contributed by M/s APM Terminals.
The above performance was highlighted by Neeraj Bansal, IRS, Chairman of JNPT at a trade get- together ceremony organised at the Port Administration Building on 7th April 2015. Representative of APM Terminal, NSICT, NSIGT, PSA, CONCOR, MANSA, CSLA, BCHAA, LCBUA, Head of Departments, senior officials of Port Trust and, representatives of the trade were also present in good strength.
In his elaborate address, Shri Neeraj Bansal said that JNPT is on the verge of expanding its capacity and explained its road map and also challenges before Port to sustain growth and meet trade’s demand with better coordination among the stake holders.
A.K.Bose Chief Manager (Traffic) in his welcome address thanked all terminal operators and the trade for their support in the Port achievements, Terminal Operators also spoke on the occasion.
