India lose 0-1 to England at the Volvo Invitational U-21 (Women) Tournament 2015
Breda (The Netherlands), 25 July 2015(N4C Sports)-In the last pool match of the Volvo Invitational U-21 (Women) Tournament 2015, India lost to England 0-1 today. Though, India displayed good stick skills throughout the match they lost due to the sole goal that they conceded to England which helped the latter to stamp its victory.
The first half of the match saw India dominating the game by continuously penetrating England’s half and they managed to secure a penalty corner opportunity but it was adeptly saved by the England’s goalie Amy Tennant. The game turned out to be tough as both the sides were best with their respective defence line–up and in no mood to give away easy scoring prospects to the other. As both India and England prevented each other from scoring, the first half went dry on goals and the scores stood at 0-0.
The second half of the game witnessed a much more intense battle and was packed with attacks and counter attacks. The teams displayed a superior quality of game as the girls were in dire need of opening the score-card. It was Kate Holmes of England who created some space for herself and struck a field goal in the 47th minute to take a 1-0 lead in the game. On the other hand, India was seen putting extra efforts in the game to level the scores with England as they tried to create goal scoring opportunities for themselves on many occasions but were restricted by England. However the Indian team displayed good coordination and trying to close the gaps by ensuring good possession of the ball and earned crucial penalty corners but stood unsuccessful in converting them. Failing to score any goal in the match, India lost to England 0-1.
The Volvo Invitational U-21 Tournament 2015 is being played at Breda, The Netherlands from 18-26 July 2015. The next clash of the U-21 India Women Team will be decided by the end of the day today depending on the remaining pool matches in the tournament.
