The attendance at the World Cup 2018 opener has surpassed the average spectator numbers for any of the FIFA World Cup editions since 1930.
The 1994 FIFA World Cup finals in the USA has been the most-attended edition ever with a per match average attendance of 68,991. The 52 games between 24 teams were watched by 35,87,538 spectators in the stadiums.
