Faridabad (N4C Desk)-The ESI Corporation is committed to work for the welfare of workers and improvement in their quality of life and for providing all possible social security to them. For providing the best Medical Education to the masses, ESI Corporation has set up Medical Colleges and Post Graduate Institutes of Medical Sciences & Research in various States/UTs with a view to upgrade the quality of health care delivery to ESI Beneficiaries and also for tackling the problem of shortage of doctors and specialists.

The Medical Council of India and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India gave permission to admit 100 MBBS students in September 2015 to the ESIC Medical College, Faridabad, Haryana. Now, a total of 97 students have been admitted under the State Quota and another 03 students have been admitted under the category of the wards of the Insured Persons (IPs) under the ESIC Management Quota.

These 03 students have got their admission in MBBS, by virtue of being wards of workers (employees) covered under ESI Scheme, who are part of society from lower wage bracket earning upto Rs.15,000/- or below.

There are more than 5 lakh Insured Persons (IPs) in Faridabad, and the catchment area for ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Faridabad covers more than13 lakh IPs.

This medical college is built on 30 acre of land with a cost of Rs.750 crore (approx) and a dedicated team of young & experienced professionals that match with any big corporate hospital of the country. ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Faridabad is being equipped with state of the art equipments.

 

ESI Scheme in India

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation is a pioneer Social Security organization providing comprehensive social security benefits like reasonable Medical Care and a range of Cash Benefits in times of need such as employment injury, sickness, death etc. The ESI Act applies to premises/precincts where 10 or more persons are employed. The employees drawing wages up to Rs. 15,000/- a month are entitled to health insurance cover and other benefits, under the ESI Act. The Act now applies to over 7.23 lakh factories and establishments across the country, benefiting about 2.03 crores family units of workers. As of now, the total beneficiary population of ESI Scheme stands over 7.89 crores. Ever since its inception in 1952, the ESI Corporation has, so far, set up 151 Hospitals, 1459/188 Dispensaries / ISM Units, 812 Branch/Pay Offices and 61 Regional & Sub-Regional/Divisional Offices.
