DMRC CELEBRATED 21St FOUNDATION DAY
New Delhi (N4C Desk)- The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) celebrated its 21st foundation day with annual awards being presented to 43 deserving employees for their outstanding contribution to the Metro alongwith three special prizes.
Chairman, DMRC and Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development Sh. Madhusudan Prasad, presented the awards in the presence of Additional Secretary, UD, D. S. Mishra, Managing Director, DMRC Dr. Mangu Singh and other senior officials.
Dr. Mangu Singh reflected back on the major achievements of the preceding year and said “The scale of activity in the present phase of Metro construction in the NCR has been enormous to say the very least. On the operational front additional statistics are now being taken not only for peak hour traffic but peak of peak hour traffic owing to the ever increasing ridership.
Also, additional efforts are being made to stress on the indigenization of the technologies involved in Metro operations in sync with the ‘Make in India’ campaign of the Government of India. Over 90 percent of the Rolling Stock procured by DMRC had been manufactured in India thanks to the indigenization efforts made by DMRC.” Madhusudan Prasad, in his address, said “Delhi Metro has changed the course of public transport in India.” He also said that “DMRC has maintained the reliability and punctuality of Metro services.
The punctuality of the trains during 2014-15 remained 99.88 %.” The Central Secretariat Metro station was adjudged the ‘Best Metro Station’ and Mahesh Kumar received the Metro Person of the year award. The Metro Women of the Year Award, was given to Smt. Renu Dhillon.
Besides these, 41 more employees from various departments were also awarded for their meritorious performance. Two employees from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were also awarded for their contribution towards maintaining security in DMRC.
To commemorate the occasion, a photo exhibition on the activities of the Delhi Metro during the night was organised which comprised of 30 attractive photographs highlighting the construction as well as operational activities of DMRC during the night. In addition, popular music composer and singer Anand Raj Anand enthralled the audience in a cultural programme.
