AIMTC President Bhim Wadhwa Says 93 lacs Truckers and approx.50 lacs Bus & Tourist Operators. It is an umbrella body of covering over 3300 Taluka, Distt., State level Federations & Transport Associations. The order banning diesel vehicles in Delhi and NCR has caused havoc among the road transport fraternity and there is environment of uncertainty among them. The utter callousness with which the order is pronounced by NGT is not in good taste and it seems that some lobby is at work behind this draconian move. It is surprising that NGT could supersede Hon’ble Supreme Court order allowing 15 year age of vehicles in the case of AIR 1999 Supreme Court 301 “M. C. Mehta Vs Union of India”. Writ Petition (C) No. 13029 of 1985, D/-1-12-1998.
The authorities RTO and Police have found easy prey among the commercial vehicles and there is open loot by them. The vehicles are being impounded at night and money is being fleeced from vulnerable truckers. The Government of India must pay heed to the loss of livelihood of lacs of truckers and their family members on account of this short sighted dicktat.
The road transport fraternity at its emergent meeting held at AIMTC today denounced such atrocious measures and have decided that if the ban is not revoked then no commercial vehicle irrespective of its age will enter into Delhi from midnight of Monday i.e. 13th April, 2015,
